Overview

Backup for Workgroups is a client-server, backup and recovery system with software components that you run on your computers to back them up and send your backup data to centralized, disk-based storage media. When you use Backup for Workgroups, your data is automatically backed up and stored at a location of your choice so you can recover data lost due to accidents, hard drive failures, computer crashes, theft, or viruses. 

Backup for Workgroups protects your data by systematically performing the following tasks:

• Automatically performs backups of files on each Windows computer at time intervals you define.  
  After you have backed up your entire computer, subsequent backups include only the data that has changed. This keeps your time to backup at a minimum, reduces network traffic and minimizes the amount of storage space that you use. 

• Sends encrypted backup data to the Backup Server for centralized, disk-based storage. 
  Your data files are encrypted to protect the contents from prying eyes. Every team member’s data is sent to the Backup Server for storage. 

• Restores individual files or your entire computer in the event of data loss.  
  You can easily restore a single file, directory or folder, or entire computer in a few easy steps. 

• Keeps you informed of program activities with e-mails and reports.  
  Backup for Workgroups sends e-mail to you and any other people who need to be notified when your backups run. These e-mails and reports help you stay current with your backup and disaster recovery plan requirements.
