You may want to take advantage of the throttling capability of the Backup Server. This feature allows you to control the number of concurrent backup sessions allowed at the Backup Server. Use the throttling feature when you have Backup Clients with similar backup schedules and you want to control the surge in activity on the Backup Server.
You can tune this value according to your Backup Server equipment. For example, the number of concurrent users that works best for you is dependent on the number of CPUs in the Backup Server computer, the speed of the CPU(s), and the hard drive access speed. As you use Backup for Workgroups in your environment, feel free to change this number accordingly.
Go to the computer running the Backup Server software.
Run Backup for Workgroups.
Choose Tools > Preferences.
Select the Throttling tabbed page.
Specify the maximum number of concurrent backup sessions allowed by the Backup Server. Use the up and down buttons to change this value accordingly.
Press OK to save your settings.
