When you find it necessary to reinstall Backup for Workgroups, you need to reset up the Backup Server first. Once you have the Backup Server setup and running, you can reinstall the Backup Client software on the additional computers that had been backing up.
STEP 1 -
Choose Reinstall Backup Server first.
When reinstalling Backup for Workgroups, you need to have access to the
drive that holds your existing Backup for Workgroups backup data. Make sure
the existing backup data is accessible from this computer.
Once you reinstall the
Backup Server, then you can reinstall the Backup Client software on each
computer that was included in your backup process. If you do not recall the
computers that were included in the backup process, you can always go to the
Clients Panel at the Backup Server and you can read the list of Backup
Client Account names.
If you are performing a disaster recovery in which you are now going to use
a temporary computer in place of your original Backup Server, we recommend that
you select a computer with a fast CPU and it must be attached to your
internal network (not over the Internet) for the best performance during the
restoration process. Running data restorations over the Internet will take
significantly more time than performing the same task on your local network.
STEP 2 - Choose
Reinstall Backup Client when you already have your Backup Server running and you
want to include this computer in the
backup process.
Select this option when you already have reinstalled your Backup Server and you
need to reinstall the Backup Client software on this computer.
This will re-establish the Backup Client Account on this computer in order
to communicate with the Backup Server. Once your Backup Client is
reinstalled, you can perform data restorations if needed.
